With newly found capital discipline at the oilfield service companies, investors are now all abuzz with consolidation talk – What fits with what?  Who completes whom?

To that end, here’s a handy chart showing what products/services 6 big oilfield service companies provide to E&P customers.  This is taken from our Oilfield Market Report, which doesn’t cover every little thing a company like BHGE might do, but certainly covers the overall oilfield well:

Just a couple thoughts from this table:

  1. Weatherford and TechnipFMC hardly overlap.  Perhaps they could fit together. Or Weatherford and NOV… a bit more overlap, but quite complementary.

  2. There are some things these companies don’t do:  Contract compression, FPSOs, offshore construction, offshore drilling, helicopters, supply vessels, and well servicing.  Those big CAPEX services don’t fit well with these six OFS companies.
